The Commodores is an American funk soul band of the 1970s and 1980s. The members of the group met as mostly freshmen at Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University) in 1968, and signed with Motown in November 1972, having first caught the public eye opening for The Jackson 5 while on tour. The Commodores have sold over 75 million records worldwide.

In Tuskegee, they played local parties and fraternity parties playing mostly cover tunes and some original songs with their original singer, James Ingram (another “James Ingram” – not the more famous solo artist Ingram). Ingram, older than the rest of the members of the band, left to serve active duty in Vietnam, and was later replaced by Walter “Clyde” Orange, the second lead singer who wrote or co-wrote many of their hit tunes before Lionel Richie came on board. Lionel and Clyde alternated as lead singers. Clyde was also the lead singer on the Top 10 hits,”Nightshift” and “Brick House” among others.

After Richie left to pursue a solo career, former Heatwave singer J.D. Nicholas assumed co-lead vocal duties with drummer Walter “Clyde” Orange. However, with the exception of the Grammy-winning “Nightshift”  the band never achieved the same level of success it had enjoyed with Richie.

We found this report on ContactMusic.com.

After reading the report, it just makes us want to hear the tracks so bad…

BLACK EYED PEAS frontman WILL.I.AM yearns for fans to hear the songs he recorded with the late MICHAEL JACKSON before he died, because the collaborative experience was “awesome”.

The hip-hop star was one of a handful of producers who hit the studio with the Thriller legend in the months leading up to his untimely death in preparation for his big pop comeback.

But Jackson passed away in June 2009 and will.i.am vowed to keep the unfinished tracks under wraps out of respect for the perfectionist.

The rapper recently blasted the release of Jackson’s first posthumous album, Michael, insisting the superstar would never have wanted fans to hear the songs before they were officially complete.

He said, “Whoever put it out and is profiting off of it, I want to see how cold they are. To say that what (Jackson) contributed during his life wasn’t enough. He just wasn’t any ordinary artist. He was a hands-on person. To me it’s disrespectful.

“Michael Jackson songs are finished when Michael says they’re finished. Maybe if I never worked with him I wouldn’t have this perspective. He was very particular about how he wanted his vocals, the reverb he used… he was that hands-on.”

And although will.i.am wishes he could showcase some of his work with Jackson, he is adamant it will never happen.

He tells London newspaper Metro, “I actually wish the songs could come out but that’s like wishing Michael was alive – and I know he didn’t want them to (be released unfinished).

“Working together was awesome. Michael was meticulous, mega-critical: ‘Turn that snare down, bring that microphone down – can you bring me some ice?’ And it was dope (amazing). I swear to God, that happened.”

Can you bring me some ice?

What does that mean?

According to Mashable

Never mind the Beiber; here’s the King of Pop. He’s posthumously beat out every recording artist to become the most-downloaded musician of all time, based on sales data from Nokia.

According to data collected by Nokia’s Ovi music store, Michael Jackson has surpassed Elvis Presley, Lady Gaga and a horde of the world’s most popular recording artists to achieve this title.

Some speculate Jackson’s death last year and tributes surrounding what would have been the singer’s 52nd birthday this week to a surge in sales.

In a release, musicologist Geoff Roberts noted Jackson’s perennial popularity, saying, “Michael Jackson has always been a pop music legend. But the anniversary of his death and upcoming birthday celebrations seem to have revived Jackson fever as fans rediscover his songs, making him the most popular solo artist of all time.”

DO YOU THINK WILL.I. AM REALLY SAID

‘They are freaking parasites’?

A new report just came in from www.app.com that states he did, but I don’t know…

A new Michael Jackson album is expected by the end of the year, culled from unreleased material in his vaults. But Jackson collaborator and Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am is vehemently opposed to the idea.

“I don’t think that should ever come out. That’s bad,” he said. “He was a perfectionist and he wouldn’t have wanted it that way. How you gonna release Michael Jackson when Michael Jackson ain’t here to bless it?”

Will.i.am collaborated with Jackson on the rerelease of “Thriller” in 2008 with remixed versions of some of the album’s classic songs. He said Jackson was very particular about all aspects of his musical productions, from his vocals to arrangements to instrumentation.

“Now that he is not part of the process, what are they doing? Why would you put a record out like that? Because he was a friend of mine, I just think that’s disrespectful,” he said. “What’s wrong with what he already contributed to the world?”

The Jackson estate did not respond to a request for comment.

When asked about the high demand for any new Jackson music, will.i.am replied: “So what? You don’t disrespect someone when they’re gone. … How much can you suck from his energy? … Freaking parasites!”

Not much is known about what will be on the album, but Michael’s brother Jackie has said he and brother Marlon were working on the record with John McClain, Jackson’s former manager and executor of his estate.

According to www.craveonline.com

First of what will undoubtedly be an endless stream of albums of new Michael Jackson material will be released this November, according to a rep for the Jackson estate.

The collection, featuring 10 unreleased songs are reportedly only a sampling of over 100 completed, never-before-heard songs that remained on hard drives after the death of the King of Pop. Much of the material was said to have been recorded during the peak of Jackson’s popularity in the mid-eighties.

Jackson’s manager Frank DiLeo told Rolling Stone that he estimates that Jackson’s vaults contain more than 100 completed and unreleased songs, including collaborations with Akon, Will.i.am and Ne-Yo.

“There are a couple of songs we recorded for the Bad album that we had to cut that are just sensational,” DiLeo said.

The story’s not hard to believe, given the icon’s notoriously brutal work ethic. “Every time that [Jackson] recorded, he over-recorded. He would record anywhere from 20 to 30 songs for each album,” former Sony Music CEO Tommy Mottola told RS last year. Any of them could have been as big a hit as the ones that came out.”

According to Rolling Stone, one of the most noteworthy tracks was a Thriller outtake titled “Don’t Be Messin’ Around.” Jackson was also said to have recorded up to five tracks with Will.i.am., which the label is undoubtedly clamoring to get released.

Rodney Jerkins, who co-produced Jackson’s 2001 album Invincible, revealed to VladTV that he’s currently working on the collection.

Born Elliott J. Straite aka Dr. Freeze, he is the talented platinum hit producer mega hits for Bell Biv Devoe and Color Me Badd. More importantly for this blog he co-wrote ‘BREAK of DAWN’. We love that song, it’s one of our favourites. However, ‘I wanna sex you up’ was a JAM.

MTV REPORTS

Chris Brown wasn’t the only one getting misty-eyed at Sunday night’s BET Awards during his tribute to Michael Jackson. The King of Pop’s older brother, Jermaine, told “Extra” that he was also overcome with emotion during the dance routine, in which Brown paid homage to some of MJ’s most famous moves and then attempted to sing “Man in the Mirror” before being overcome with emotion and weeping onstage.

“To see [Chris'] performance, it was very emotional for me, because it was an acceptance from his fans from what has happened to him and also paying tribute to my brother,” Jermaine said. “It was just a spectacular moment.”

The YOUTUBERS Say:

Tedddy Riley said they almost put this on MJ’s Dangerous album as “Someone Put Your Hand Out”, but MJ changed his mind and used “Remember The Time” instead.. who knows how many classic songs MJ decided not to put out.

Yeah great song, I’ve once read that Michael Jackson wrote it…
It has MJ’s vibe… great job Blackstreet!.

000000000000

Thanks MJ for bringing our life Joy!! God Bless you RIP MJ

000000000000

No you all have it wrong. MJ wrote this, and the music. It was originally planned for the Dangerous album, and then Michael decided not to put it on, as they were already struggling to cut music down to fit a CD. He gave this to Teddy as a gift for all of his hard work and efforts and help on the Dangerous album. :)
