Loyal Reader StarMyMy tipped us off…

A friendly, yet fierce, competition has sprung up between the fans of the “Lady” and the fans of the “King.” It all started when artist David Ilan, who is behind the largest Michael Jackson tribute in the world, agreed to create an image of Lady Gaga if enough of her fans participate in the one-of-a-kind project – an interactive work of art.
Ilan sees it differently. “The tribute portraits are completely separate and are not meant to compete with each other,” he said. “Both projects need a million participates in order to be completed, so I guess that sparked the competition to see which project can get a million fans first.”
Ilan is known around the world for his unique “dot drawings” that allow ordinary people to play a role in their creation. His art pieces are made from hand-drawn dots; each dot represents a real person. People participate for free by requesting a dot, and when enough dots come together, an amazing image is formed.

Janet Jackson on Tupac
‘Pac was just silly,’ Jackson says of the late rapper, who was shot dead in Las Vegas three years after the film’s release. ‘He was completely different from what people knew.
‘Not that it was an act, the person that the world knew, because that was him, too. I adored him; he liked to play and laugh.
‘I remember when he said he was going back into LA to get a tattoo. And, I said, “Why are you going to LA? We’re not supposed to leave, we have to shoot tomorrow.”
‘He looked at me and said, “Square!’ she says, laughing. ‘When he came back he showed me the tattoo he got on his stomach. He was sweet. Granted, there was another side, but he wouldn’t just snap or go crazy out of nowhere.
There had to be something that triggered that. I miss him,’ she says softly.
Janet Jackson on Gaga
She met Lady Gaga recently backstage at one of the flamboyant star’s concerts.
‘We had a good conversation,’ Jackson says. ‘She asked a lot of questions and I felt she really listened to what I had to say. I love how she puts melody in music and I think that has been lost in a lot of music.
It’s a little reminiscent of Grace Jones, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. It’s a little left and over the top, but still good and fun. It’s exciting to see what she is going to do next.’

According to Forbes
Lady Gaga banked an estimated $62 million last year from concert tickets, album sales and a collection of pricey endorsement deals; Jay-Z raked in $63 million while his wife Beyonce grabbed $87 million; and Madonna, the original Material Girl, earned $58 million.
Impressive, until you consider Michael Jackson, the late King of Pop, pulled down $275 million – more than all four artists combined. It was enough to earn Jackson a spot atop our tenth annual list of the Top-Earning Dead Celebrities. (No surprise, he earned more than the 12 other list-makers collectively brought in during the year-long period.)

Last night, Lady Gaga was interviewed onLarry King Live and spoke about her connection to Michael Jackson. Dressed in suspenders and a tie mimicking Larry King, Gaga revealed for the first time that she was slated as the opening act for Michael Jackson’s This Is It concert tour to take place in the summer of 2009 before the singer tragically died.
“I was actually asked to open for Michael on his tour and we were going to open for him at the O2 and we were working on making it happen. There was some talk about the openers doing duets with Michael onstage. But Michael Jackson’s death was devastating for me regardless of whether I was supposed to go on tour with him.”

She humped inflatable pool toys in the video for “Just Dance” and taunted enormous dogs with her “Poker Face.” For her next trick, pop provocatease Lady GaGa is going old school. Shot inside a warehouse at the Port of L.A. (where I visited for a feature on the tiny blond sequin-spreader that will run in the magazine next week), the “LoveGame” video is set on a subway platform, wet concrete glistening beneath a menacing flock of bondage-loving biker-gang dancers who back the Lady through a routine that’s part Rhythm Nation, part Blonde Ambition Tour, and generally takes so many cues from Michael Jackson’s “Bad” clip that after one of the nearly two dozen runs through the chorus, GaGa herself actually stage-whispered, “Who’s bad?”
