Jackson Family Values by Margaret

Click to Preview Book

Margaret Maldonado reveals in her book, “Jackson Family Values,” that Jackie had become the first of the Jackson brothers to get a divorce. His wife, Enid had caught Jackie having an affair with Paula Abdul (American Idol). According to Maldonado, “caught” probably isn’t the right word. Jackie did little to keep it a secret during its long run. The affair came to a climax one evening in 1984, when Jackie had taken Paula to the movies at the Sepulveda Drive-In Theater. Marlon’s wife, Carol, found out about it and told Enid.

Enid drove to the theater and located Jackie and Paula. She yanked Paula out of the Range Rover by her hair and dragged her across the theater lot while Jackie tried to pull his wife away. Jackie was still trying to help Paula when Enid got into her car and put it in reverse and ran into Jackie’s leg.

The broken leg kept Jackie from performing on the Victory Tour. Three years later, the couple divorced. Shortly afterwards, Enid had Jackie arrested for violating the terms of the divorce. He came to the house and tried to use the recording studio he’d built. When Enid turned him away, he broke the French door leading into the kitchen. Right after the glass hit the floor he was in police custody.

Meanwhile, Maldonado (the author) who was dating Jermaine, says, after Hazel threw Jermaine out, he moved in with me and our son, Jeremy. When he arrived, he said, “I only have $300 dollars to my name.” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Like all of his brothers, he made $5 million from the Victory tour in 1984, drove around in a Ferrari and had a huge estate in Brentwood. How could he possibly be broke? I was shocked by what he said but told him not to worry; we would manage somehow.

This report sounds so ‘out there’… Where does this stuff come from? Readers your thoughts….

Unauthorized biography

Almost two decades ago, an actress friend and I posed as a grieving couple at a grave site at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park in Glendale. I was being wooed to write an unauthorized biography about the world’s most mysterious man since Howard Hughes, and I had insisted on at least getting a glimpse of the subject, if even from a distance, before I signed on.

Blond Decoy

As it turned out, I would have a face-to-face encounter with Michael Jackson himself, if only for a fleeting moment. He was among the Jacksons getting out of a nearby limousine to attend his grandmother’s burial, and his path to her grave site took him past us. When he was inches away, he slowed almost to a stop for a split-second and looked at us. My friend, a striking blonde from  a popular TV show, could have that affect on people, which is why I asked her to join me.

Enter Michael Jackson
Michael was dressed all in black, sporting a black fedora, and his trademark black curls dangled over his forehead. He wasn’t wearing the surgical mask that had become a part of his wardrobe, and for an instant our faces couldn’t have been more than a foot apart. The man looked like an alien. The skin was pasty. His eyes were lifeless. The famous nose job and jaw implant looked ruddy and rubbery. The only sign of color was the pinkish gloss on his lips. I half wondered if he wasn’t wearing a mask. He walked on to his grandmother’s grave, and I momentarily made eye contact with the person in their mourning party who had tipped me off that Michael would be there – the person who wanted me to co-author the biography of Michael with her.

Name of Book – Michael: From Motown to the Moon

Enid Jackson, the estranged wife of Michael’s older brother Jackie, nodded to me, and I acknowledged her. This was how I had finally agreed to write “Michael: From Motown to the Moon,” a 100,000-word book that was soon commissioned by William Morrow & Co. for a six-figure advance. The book was never published for legal reasons and Enid died in 1997. But the book deal set off an 18-month period of lengthy tape-recorded interview sessions with Enid and an array of Jackson family friends, disgruntled employees, former employees, lovers and ex-lovers. As they say, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and Enid was that woman.

Born Sigmund Esco Jackson in Gary, Indiana on his mother’s 21st birthday, May 4, 1951, he is the second child of Joseph and Katherine and the oldest male child. He was given the name “Jackie” by relatives.

Aspiring to be a professional baseball player, Jackson forsook that dream when he and his four younger brothers formed the Jackson 5 in 1966.

Jackie and his two younger brothers Tito and Jermaine were part of an early incarnation of the group as The Jackson Brothers in 1964.

Jackie married Enid Spann (died 20 December 1997) in November 1974 at the age of 23. They divorced in 1987. He has two children – daughter Brandi (adopted), and Sigmund “Siggy”, who performs under the name DealZ.
