I Just Can’t Stop Loving You is a popular ballad by singer Michael Jackson featuring a duet with Siedah Garrett. Written and composed by Jackson, it was originally intended to be a duet between Jackson and his woman of choice: either Barbra Streisand or Whitney Houston. Even Aretha Franklin and Agnetha Fältskog (formerly of ABBA) were offered the song, but all four had other obligations.

However Quincy Jones protege Garrett, volunteered to sing with Jackson thus giving Garrett her first hit since Dennis Edwards’ 1984 hit, “Don’t Look Any Further”. Garrett is quoted in The Billboard Book of Number One Hits by Fred Bronson that she was unaware she would be singing the song – although she had received a tape of it – until the day of the recording session, when Jones told her to step up to the microphone and sing it with Jackson.

A foxnews Report:

Prince and Paris Jackson, children of perhaps the world’s most famous man, stepped into unfamiliar territory at the 52nd Grammy Awards on Sunday night – the spotlight.

Michael Jackson’s eldest children, who he always protected from the public eye, accepted their dad’s posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award, and while their courage brought about a standing ovation, it was clear the two had trouble getting through their speech.

“We are proud to be here to accept this award on behalf of our father, Michael Jackson,” 12-year-old Prince said, before getting choked up and stammering. “First of all, we’d like to thank God for watching over us for the past seven months. And our grandmother and grandfather for their love and support. We would also like to thank the fans. Our father loved you so much because you were always there for him. Our father was always concerned about the planet and humanity. Through all his hard work and dedication, he’s helped with many charities and donated to all of them.”

Eleven-year-old Paris closed the acceptance with a few more words; however she was clearly overcome by the moment.

“Daddy was supposed to be here, Daddy was gonna perform this year,” she said quickly. “He couldn’t perform last year. Thank you, we love you, Daddy.”

Article Headline: Jackson 5 stars attend slain drummer’s funeral
Article Date: 13/03/2006

Jackson 5 stars attend slain drummer’s funeral. However, the family’s two biggest stars are absent.

The Jackson 5 clan were in attendance yesterday for the funeral of the band’s former drummer, who was killed in a stabbing earlier this month.

Johnny Jackson Jr – unrelated to the Jackson family – died on March 1st after being reportedly stabbed with a steak knife during an argument with 44-year-old Yolanda Davis, who has been charged over the crime.

Attending yesterday’s service in Gary, Indiana, were Jermaine, Tito, Marlon, Randy and Jackie Jackson. There was a no show, however, from Michael Jackson – currently residing in Bahrain, or his sister Janet – who reportedly footed the bill for the ceremony.

“He was like a brother to all of them,” Jackson family attorney Brian Oxman said to Indiana’s Gary Post Tribune. “He was a part of their youth, and now that is gone.”
“He had a lively way of living and enjoyed every moment,” Randy Jackson added to press. “He made touring fun. There was never a dull moment, with jokes and a lot of laughs.”

The late drummer performed with the Jackson 5 for 15 years, from 1967.

A TMZ Report:

We’re told the best guess is that when the door finally shuts on people who claim Michael Jackson owed them money, the grand total will exceed $20 mil. That includes a $5 million claim from a memorabilia collector, a $1 million claim from someone who wants a cut of the “Thriller” music video, a $2.3 million claim from Dr. Tohme Tohme and a $1.5 million claim from a law firm (there are a number of other law firms that want a piece of the estate).

That does not mean — by any stretch — the estate will pay all the claims. We’re told some of them are patently bogus and lawyers for the estate will not pay, unless a judge orders them to ante up.

MJFC says:

Buyer Beware – “Unmasked” Complete Trash! Why? Because it is full of mistakes, fiction and unproven accusations.

The MJFC has done some background checking. Here are some details you should know before even considering spending a penny on “Unmasked.”

Who is this Man?

Ian Halperin is a Canadian journalist and writer who makes his money writing books on various celebrities, super-models and Hollywood in general. He is the author or coauthor of nine books on stars such as Celine Dion, James Taylor and Kurt Cobain – all of which contain very highly questionable material and often cite “unnamed sources”. So you can’t really say he is a specialist on Michael Jackson but rather a specialist in using famous people to make money.

Family Joe Jackson with Michael Jackson with

Calling off his Comeback O2 Shows?

Michael Jackson reportedly called out for his father on the night he died. The pop legend – who passed away on June 25 after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest – was desperate to see dad Joe Jackson as he was convinced his aides weren’t looking after his finances and wanted to call off his 50 comeback shows in London.

Shouting Match

Referring to a phone call Michael – who was due to start his mammoth residency at The O2 arena on July 13 – took in the early hours on the day he died, his biographer Ian Halperin said: “He got in a shouting match about finances. That was when Michael said he was calling off the tour. He said some advisers didn’t care about his welfare. I’ve been told he was crying.”

THE BBC plans to cash in on Michael Jackson mania with an X Factor-style hunt for a dancer who can master the legend’s moves.

And the wannabes could even be judged by one of the late singer’s FAMILY, TV Biz can reveal.

“And given that his family played such a huge part in his life, it makes sense for one of them to be a judge. Jermaine, Janet or LaToya would be brilliant.”

Bosses will kick off a national search for Britain’s best moonwalker and body-popper later this year. And just like the X Factor, contestants will be judged by a panel of industry experts.

The Beeb is desperate to have a talent show to match ITV’s juggernauts The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

The show – to be called Move Like Jacko – is still at an early planning stage.

This is an article I found regarding the production of the Broadway & show Thriller. As usual someone always suing Michael Jackson for something! This was circulating in the media around late January 2009.

According to Okay Blog …This production is not to be confused with Thriller – Live, a musical about Jacko’s career that has been playing in London’s West End since 2006.

Director John Landis sued Michael Jackson and a Broadway producer claiming the pair lacked the proper rights to adapt a stage production based on Thriller.

    1

Landis, who co-wrote and directed the groundbreaking music video, sued the pop star and producer James L. Nederlander’s company over the show.

Nederlander announced that it had acquired the rights to Thriller and songs from Jackson’s blockbuster album of the same name.

    1

John Landis said that he had not been paid over profits made from the music video in the past four years, John filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles seeking compensation. Though giving no specific amount on how much Michael had to pay him, the director claimed 50% of profit from the video and other related materials.

At the time,  Michael’s representative Dr. Tohme Tohme did not give any comment. John’s attorney Miles Feldman had told The Wrap, “I can’t understand what they are doing to John Landis’ company. It is such a straight ahead thing. It makes no sense at all to me.”

The lawsuit news came just after Dr. Tohme Tohme issued a statement saying that the “Thriller” music video will be brought to Broadway stage. The musical project is  produced by Nederlander Organization. “The Nederlanders and Michael Jackson represent live theater and musical excellence, so the let music begin,” his representative stated.

    Dear friends,

How can I even write this message through my tears of mourning and tears of Joy?

Tears for the Joy Michael Joseph Jackson gave us over the years and the Joy of listening to his Angelic voice and the Joy of his unparalleled performances!

The world has truly lost a Special Soul and there will never be another Soul in this world like Michael Jackson.

As we get over the shock and sorrow, let’s emerge with the knowing that he has ascended to a higher plain and is welcomed by our Heavenly Father who can say to Michael “Job Well Done My Son”.

I am truly honoured to have been a part of his career and have him as my Dance Brother.

I can’t thank him enough for allowing me to be in his productions as I’m sure are the many musicians, dancers, directors, singers and anyone who were blessed enough to have worked with or known him as the sweet and kind human he was.

Please listen to his songs and reflect on his influence on your life and this world. He played a huge part in trying to heal us all with his art and love. Let’s pray for the strength of his parents and family members as they mourn the loss of their dear Michael who they raised and shared with the world.

This is one of the darkest days in my life and I’m trying to be strong in God’s mercy. God Bless the soul of our Beloved Michael Joseph Jackson. Please pray for him and his family and especially his children.

Celebrity Vanessa Feltz defends Micheal Jackson

    Vanessa Feltz

    Digital Spy Report:

Vanessa Feltz has claimed that Michael Jackson’s legacy is being overshadowed by recent allegations surrounding his personal life.

The UK TV personality admitted that she is disappointed by the way Jackson’s memory has been tarnished since he passed away on June 25.

Writing in her Daily Express column, Feltz explained: “Each day that passes since the untimely death of Michael Jackson brings allegations, insinuations and complications. Every word uttered by his family, by the insincere leeches who now profess to have been his dearest friends and the staff who tended to him has one tragic effect.

“The controversy, discordant disclosures and repellent revelations kick up a deafening din which almost drowns out the emboldening, gladdening sound of his music.”

She added: “If only the profiteers would pipe down and leave us to enjoy his extraordinary legacy.”.

    Micheal Jackson in Brazil Flag

Less than a day after Michael Jackson’s death, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, announced that the city would erect a statue of the singer in Dona Marta, a favela that was once notorious for drug dealing and is now a model for social development. The change was spurred partly by Jackson’s 1996 visit to film the video for “They Don’t Care About Us.”

Jackson shot two videos for “They Don’t Care About Us,” the fourth single from “HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I”: one in a prison and another in Dona Marta and Salvador da Bahia, a colonial Brazilian city known for its Afro-Brazilian culture and music.

When Jackson came to Brazil to shoot the video, directed by Spike Lee, Rio’s local government became concerned that the singer would show the world an unflattering picture of poverty. At the time, Brazilians, like people the world over, saw Jackson as an idol. He’d been to the country twice before, once with the Jackson 5 in the ’70s and again in 1993, when he played two concerts in São Paulo to 100,000 people each night.

At the time, the concert promoter Dodi Sirena recalls a “sensitive” artist who asked for an amusement park to be reserved for his use, then invited children from the poorest public schools. “He displayed great concern for everything in the country, with poverty, with street children,” Sirena says.

In that context, Jackson’s choice of locale for his video made sense. “The video is about the people no one cares about,” says Claudia Silva, press liaison for Rio’s office of tourism.
